Kalymnos -the uncrowded Greek island you just have to visit

Kalymnos may not be the first island you think of when you’re thinking of the Greek Isles, but it really should be on your list. The island is rugged with rocky outcrops and cliffs. The beaches just gorgeous and the people truly beautiful.

These photos were taken in July - mid summer - and the rhythm of the island was relaxed and easy. The food is incredible and you’ve haven’t tasted Greek yoghurt and honey until you’ve had it there.

I don’t have to sell this place because it does it all by itself. Invited there for a friend’s wedding, I was was in love as soon as I landed. A direct flight from Athens.

This Summer Kalymnos could be calling...

If you love fresh delicious food with a jaw dropping view, then you MUST visit Aegean Tavern when you’re in Kalymnos. Everything about this restaurant is divine - food, service, people, view - everything, and you will come away feeling simply happy.

The view from the Aegean Tavern looking towards the island of Tenendos

Wedding with a view... We climbed to the very top and were welcomed with this incredible backdrop for a stunning traditional Greek ceremony.

The island of Tenendos - just a few minutes on the ferry from Kalymnos and you’ve arrived. There’s a dry rugged beauty about the island which is also home to grape vines laden with fruit, olive trees and beautiful herb gardens.

After an unforgettable wedding that stretched on until dawn, we wandered back into the village. The sun was rising and the moon quietly fading as we laughed, barefoot along the path.
